Aug 2016 - First ever opera released in Dolby Atmos - Proud of this - Antonio Pappano conducts the Royal Opera House Orchestra in the wonderful coupling of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci. I produced, recorded and mixed this new Blue Ray - mixed for Dolby Atmos in Studio 3 at Abbey Road. When I record at the opera house there are 12 microphones hung from the roof, spread across the auditorium which, in Atmos, can be panned discretely above your head and creates a much more immersive and subtle sound space - perfect for live opera . In 5.1 musical details compete for space, particularly in the large tuttis - Not any more…

In the DVD category I Produced & Engineered two operas, Symanowski's magnificent Krol Roger (seriously, check out the first ten minutes...) and Puccini's Manon Lescaut with Jonas Kaufmann and Kristine Opolais for the Royal Opera House, both conducted by Tony Pappano. In the CD category I recorded and mixed the new Warner Classics recording of Aida in Rome with Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
